The Department of Agriculture has recently released information on its proposed amendments to cost recovery arrangements for export certification and biosecurity services.
The major drivers for the change is the aim to simplify arrangements and provide improved consistency and transparency in levy or fee application as well as to conform to with the Federal government’s policy on cost recovery.
The proposed new arrangements will affect growers who are importing or exporting. The cost impact of the new fees and levies will vary depending upon the circumstances of the individual business, however there are some substantial increases including a revised Post Entry Quarantine husbandry fee for plants.
Growers who are importing or exporting are advised to check the Department of Agriculture website and the specific Cost Recovery Implementation Statements for Biosecurity (Import) and Export for more information.
