Growing Together Tour heading to Brisbane

The final leg of the Growing Together Tour by 202020 Vision is taking place in Brisbane on Thursday, 19 September 20 at The Gardens Club.

The main event is targeted towards local government, developers, urban greening professionals and town planners. It aims to equip decision-makers with the latest resources and research from 202020 Vision on community attitudes towards green space.

Later that evening, growers and retailers are invited to attend an Industry briefing dinner, where the team will present the research, share insights from the event series to date, and provide an update on the next phase of 202020 Vision and Plant Life Balance.

Here’s a snapshot of insights gained from the most recent Growing Together event.

NSW: Key Learnings

Held on Thursday, 8 August 2019 at Macquarie University, the day saw great attendance from cross-industry participants. Key insights and learnings from the event were:

  • Quality green space outcomes require meaningful and efficient cross‑sector collaboration between local council, state government departments, industry, landscape practitioners and the community.
  • The green space story needs to be part of a larger, more holistic narrative around urban living that also talks to liveability, sustainability, wellness, place‑
  • Decision-makers need to consider how community use existing urban spaces to ensure any addition of plants and trees increase the quality of these areas. Spaces must be multi-purpose and well connected.
  • Communities are not homogenous, single‑interest groups. Effective communications about the benefits of green space must therefore consider the specific histories, aspirations, needs and preferred communication platforms of the community that is being spoken to.
