Future of the Australian Standard AS2303 – National Tree Stock for Landscape Use
There has been significant progress on this project since the last update in May. As per the last communication, Anthony made significant modifications to the draft Standard and forwarded the amended copy to Standards Australia. This was then circulated to the Standards Australia EV018 Committee for review. Subsequently, some EV018 Committee members felt that some of the changes had devalued the draft, particularly in regards to the removal of the Tree Balance Assessment.
During June, Anthony has worked with key EV018 Committee members to negotiate a compromise for the industry. On Friday 27 June, he held a teleconference with the NGIA National Tree Standard Steering Committee (NNTSSC) to gain input on the future of the Tree Balance Assessment. Feedback from the NNTSSC was constructive and the NNTSSC is committed to the process of developing the Standard.
In the coming weeks, Anthony and Tony Green (who both represent NGIA on the EV018 Committee) will be working with key EV018 Committee members and Standards Australia to address this issue and come up with a path forward.
