Mid-year applications for the 2022 Hort Masterclass are open.

Delivered by the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, with input from international research providers, the University of Tasmania’s Masterclass in Horticultural Business is a professional development program for those looking to accelerate their careers within horticulture.

The program brings together more than 30 individuals across Australian horticulture, including those from the nursery industry in 2022.The course is designed to equip current and future farm managers, owners and employers with the agribusiness skills and capabilities required to run profitable and sustainable farm businesses.

Successful completion of this course will see participants graduate with a Graduate Diploma of Agribusiness, specialising in Horticultural Business.

The mid-year classes start on the 27 June and run to 4 Dec 2022.

Structure 

  • This course will be offered as a blend of online learning and face-to-face workshops at various locations across Australia. The Masterclass in Horticultural Business is accessible no matter where students live.
  • Two-day in-person workshops are held three times during the course at various locations across Australia, providing a unique opportunity to network with others in the industry.

Units

To graduate, students will undertake eight units through a flexible online delivery, focusing on key subjects to help career growth within the Horticulture industry.

  • Agribusiness Innovation
  • and Entrepreneurship
  • Agribusiness Development and Strategy
  • Horticultural Business Management
  • Horticultural Value Chains and Logistics

 Scholarships 

Every year, Hort Innovation, together with industry levies and funds from the Australian Government, provides a range of scholarships for levy paying businesses to undertake the course, valued at $8,000 each.
